So I did it
« on: May 03, 2011, 12:34:48 PM »

I bought an AR10.  I was going to get a LAR-8, but their service upon initial order, and the magazine issues turned me away.  I'm selling all my FN magazines tonight, and ordering replacement AR-10 magazines tomorrow.

I'm still trying to determine if I can build a 16" barrel rifle with full length hand guard /sight radius but having a 20" barrel model cut down, or if I need to have a 16" barrel model fitted with a low profile gas block and moving the sight gas block forward.  Anyone know the answer to this?

Hopefully it'll be here soon.  I've had conflicting reports of AR10's on the shelf at Armalite, and them having to build one (4-6 weeks).

I'm not one for posting pictures online of my gear, but I suppose I could.  I was able to make the modification to have rifle length hand guards on a carbine length barrel.  And I LOVE IT.  Here's a description of my rifle:

AR10A4C
Magpul UBR
Magpul MOE hand guard
Magpul AFG
Dueck Defense RTS
Trijicon ACOG TA01-B
Low Profile Gas Block
AAC Blackout 51T Muzzle Brake
BAD ASS ambi safety

Sounds like a great setup. <thumbsup> Did you make it to the range with it today?

I think you SHOULD post a picture of it. You'll be doing your part to "plant the seed" for others on the forum. Someone will see what you've done, and will be inspired to start their own build.

No.  I wish I had though.  I'm shooting for (no pun intended) Tuesday.  Holiday weekends are fraught with too many shooters on any range.  Tuesday I have off and there will more than likely be no one there at all.  Just me and a buddy, and hopefully my wife with her new M4.

I'll get some photographs and post them.
