As most of you know, British use to get their last names from what they did or what they were known for. Take Carpenter and Baker for example.

Vikings on the other hand use to get their last names from their parents or something about themselves. For instance, Erick the Red named his son, "Leaf Erickson" Erik-son.

We see similar last names allot and they usually suggest very mundane cause of origin. But now and then we see some that suggest a creepy and even disturbing origin. Below are some examples:

Peabody
Dickinson
Biles
Gore
Kilburn
Shakespeare
Baglow
Connor
Tietsworth
Belcher
Bodimeade

VIKING

Bearson
Henson
Cursons
Harrison
Smelson
Whoson

Thats great.

The British and most other cultures went with their occupations.
Others went with their home villages.
A very few changed their Family names as they fled for their lives from the English and came to the Americas.
