What color?
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:22:57 PM »

Its sort of gun-related. My home office/workshop is finally getting a make over in a few weeks.  While I am putting in the VCT flooring I want to go ahead and hit the walls with a fresh coat of paint.

The VCT flooring is going to be a classic white/black checkering - what color walls should I go with?

White? Or something else perhaps?  <dontknow>

So I am guessing that floral wallpaper is out?

Darn...   :'(

(I do like the diamond plate idea, but something tells me the walls would end up costing more than the floors or new benches I'm building)  <laughs>

I wonder how VCT will stick to dry wall.

I could a crazy hippie black and white checkering from floor to ceiling!  <laughs>

Have to post some before and after pics soon.

Started renovations today. Carpet pulled out. 6 boxes of VC tile sitting on standby. Walls primed and patched for a new color.

Been using a 36" x 80" solid core door setup for my main workbench. Building a 3-section workbench (so I can take it apart or move easily) to span one of the 10ft walls. Going with a 24" deep setup this time as 36" was just too much. Going to use 2x4's for the frames and solid core doors (cut to size) for the tops again.

Each section will serve its own purpose; main bench, paint booth bench and reloading bench.

I'm like a fat kid looking in the candy store window.  :leghump:

Great thing about it all is the budget. All the materials and its costing just a few hundred to completely pimp out the mancave.

Gonna have to finish up tomorrow. But here are some before and during pics:

Going to keep the renovated office/workshop on a more 'minimalist' theme this time. Maybe 2 or 3 of my favorite black & white photos and ditch the 'find any empty space and put a picture there' approach.

Me and Mrs. LLArms need to hit up Lowes and pick out a color.  :o

Argh! The organization is killing me. I want to knock all the shit off your shelves and shuffle your screwdrivers up. I'll bet you separate your metric sockets from the standard sockets too.

Chaos saves your mind. The longer it takes for you to find a part, the longer you get to stay in your cave. My work bench looks like Hurricane Katrina took a dump.

While never officially diagnosed - if you were to accuse me of having OCD I would not deny it!  <laughs>

I get as dirty as the next guy, but yea - if my tools/stuff are not organized in some form or another it will drive me nuts.

ROFL! You would either never be allowed within 100 miles of my workbench, or you would have to use it at gunpoint.   >:( :cookoo:

Still getting organized, but its pretty much about done.

Now I have a bench for reloading (equipment soon), a bench for working and a bench for re-finishing. Then of course my "office" area.
