Criterion Barrels Inc (CBI Inc) long time friend of 308AR.com and our sibling sites (AR15 Tactical, Modular Rifle and Combat Rifle). CBI is always hard at work manufacturing some of the best 308 AR rifle barrels in business. CBI 308 AR barrels are proof that you don’t have to spend a fortune on a 308 barrel to get sub moa accuracy. As mentioned previously CBI 308 AR Barrels are the heart of Fulton Armory Titan 308 and American Defense Manufacturing (ADM) UIC semi automatic rifles.

Today we are pleased to see Brownells carrying and expanded line of Criterion 308 AR Barrels. This is actually a pretty big deal. CBI is careful on how they market their 308 AR barrels. There is no competition between Fulton Armory, American Defense Manufacturing and the Criterion Barrel Inc website. Visiting the three websites will result in different 308 barrel offerings

Criterion Hybrid contour match grade .308 AR barrels offer an ideal configuration for those seeking extreme accuracy without the added weight of a heavy barrel contour. These .308 AR barrels feature a M118LR chamber. The longer throat of the M118LR enables Criterion .308 AR barrels to improve upon the performance of loads utilizing heavier bullets, serving to reduce wind drift when fired at longer ranges.

CRITERION BARRELS INC – 308 AR STAINLESS STEEL BARRELS

This configuration is designed to accommodate either .308 Winchester or 7.62×51 ammunition, and comes complete with an installed barrel extension. CBI .308 AR barrels are compatible with DPMS, Remington, and Fulton Armory pattern rifles, and accept muzzle devices with a 5/8×24 thread.

An indent is provided opposite the gas port to enable easy installation. Chambers are finished, but headspace should be checked prior to installation. Stainless steel variants are available in 20 and 22 inch lengths. These barrels are button rifled, and have been hand lapped to ensure consistent bore uniformity. The 20″ Hybrid utilizes a 0.750″ gas block, while the 22″ Hybrid utilizes a 0.875″ gas block – gas blocks NOT included.

CRITERION BARRELS INC – 308 AR CHROME LINED BARRELS

This configuration is designed to accommodate either .308 Winchester or 7.62×51 ammunition, and comes complete with an installed barrel extension. CBI .308 AR barrels are compatible with DPMS, Remington, and Fulton pattern rifles, and accept muzzle devices with a 5/8×24 thread. An indent is provided opposite the gas port to enable easy installation.

Chambers are finished, but headspace should be checked prior to installation. Chrome lined variants are available in 16, 18 and 20 inch lengths. These barrels are button rifled, and have been hand lapped to ensure consistent bore uniformity.

CRITERION BARRELS INC – 308 AR HYBRID BARRELS, 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Criterion Hybrid contour match grade 6.5 Creedmoor AR barrels offer an ideal configuration for those seeking extreme accuracy without the added weight of a heavy barrel contour. Featuring a flatter trajectory and higher ballistic coefficient than the traditional .308 Winchester alternative, the 6.5 Creedmoor has grown in popularity with many long range shooters.

Designed to be compatible with DPMS, Midwest Industries, Remington, and Fulton Armory pattern rifles, these 6.5 Creedmoor barrels can be directly swapped with factory .308 barrels. Button rifled and hand lapped to ensure consistent bore uniformity, Criterion 6.5 Creedmoor AR barrels incorporate a 5/8 x 24 muzzle thread and finished chamber.

Headspace should be checked prior to installation by a qualified gunsmith. NOTE: The 18″ 100-019-351 utilizes a .750″ gas block while the 22″ 100-019-352 utilizes a .875″ gas block (NOT include for either).

308 AR Bolt Compatibility

Note: Many .308 AR bolt manufacturers advertise their bolt as compatible with DPMS pattern .308 AR rifles, lug and bolt face tolerances often vary widely between different manufacturers. This is in opposition to the AR-15, where there is a uniform industry standard. Criterion barrels are gauged at the factory with Fulton Armory .308 AR bolts. ADM Nitride Coated 308AR Barrels UC10 – American Defense Manufacturing (ADM) has added three Nitride Coated 308AR Barrels UC10 to their barrel offering. Currently they are available in 14.5″ and 16″ barrel lengths.

The 16” model 308AR barrels incorporate a Hybrid or Heavy Contour design. The American Defense Manufacturing ADM Nitride Coated 308AR Barrels are manufactured to exacting standards by Criterion Barrels Inc. and are only available for purchase at American Defense Manufacturing.

UC10 Description

American Defense MFG .308 AR match grade barrels are designed for DPMS, Remington, Bushmaster, and FA pattern rifles. These barrels feature an M4 barrel extension and M118 LR match chamber compatible with both 7.62×51 NATO and .308 Win ammunition. Offered in a mid-weight Hybrid or Heavy contour, these barrels are manufactured from 416R Stainless Steel featuring a Nitride finish for corrosion resistance, reduced maintenance and enhanced accurate life. The barrel is hand lapped prior to finishing to provide the most consistent bore dimensions possible. Each of these barrels is dimpled for set screw .750 gas blocks. Chambers are finished, but barrels should be headspaced and installed by a qualified gunsmith.

Christensen Arms seems to be one of the few 308AR barrel manufacturers who seems to be able to consistently deliver a CARBON FIBER BARREL for the 308AR platform. The Christensen Arms Carbon Fiber Barrel is equipped with a DPMS LR-308 compatible barrel extension. If you want to use this an an Armalite AR-10 be sure to use an AR-10 bolt not a DPMS. This 18″ barrel weighs in at 2.3 pounds which is over one pound less than a DPMS 308 SASS Fluted Barrel.

Welcome Criterion Barrels

One of my favorite moments in this business is when I get an email regarding sponsoring this site from a vendor or manufacturer who’s products we love and use. Glaring examples would be Brownells, Battle Arms Development and Armalite. Today is another such announcement with the addition of Criterion Barrels of Germantown WI. If that name sounds familiar their barrels have been the standard fare on Fulton Armory rifles for years and have been out shootiing much of the competition. Make no mistake this is the “good stuff” at a price that’s the same or only slightly higher than entry level or “select” barrels from the competiton. I encourage visitors to visit Criterion Barrels and keep an eye out at Brownells for some good things. Look for more info to come.
