Brownells has been the gunsmith, armorer, and shooter go-to supplier for general gunsmithing tools for decades. You would be hard-pressed to not find the tools you need in their catalog or on their website. Brownells is my favorite place to shop.
In recent years as AR manufacturers have become more creative with their firearms designed they often require special tools for working with their specific platforms. We see this mostly with handguards and barrel nuts. Make sure if your hardware requires a brand-specific tool that it ships with your hardware or it’s available for purchase at the time you place your order. It’s very frustrating to start your AR build and find you need a tool that you don’t have.
Other manufacturers of AR’s recognize the need for better tools and are filling a much-needed void. Odin Works is one such brand.

308AR AR15 AR-10 Roll Pin Tools – 308AR AR15 AR-10 Roll Pin Tools – One of my pet peeves from folks who assemble their own AR15 AR-10 308AR rifles is the sloppy installation of the various roll pins the rifles require. In all fairness there are a few roll pins that present a challenge to the inexperienced and experienced alike. The BOLT CATCH ROLL PIN comes to mind as does the FORWARD ASSIST ROLL PIN. The BOLT CATCH ROLL PIN is positioned quite close to the body of the LOWER RECEIVER and requires a ROLL PIN PUNCH to have a flat side to properly install.
