New Server – I’m not sure what to make of this Remington R10 as the specs are sparse and the product page lacks verbiage that reflects the rifle pictured. The rifle in the picture shows an AAC TI-Raid 30 Silencer, Vortex Scope, Vortex Scope Mount and a Harris Bipod, none of which are listed in the specifications or description. Another interesting departure for Remington is Lancer Magazines and Geissele Two Stage Trigger. The lower appears to have a sling QD socket. I can’t determine if it’s part of the lower or not. If it is part of the lower construction this would differentiate it from the R25 GII lowers. The trigger guard appears to be typical where as the R25 GII I believe is machined as part of the lower.

Regardless this is quite a departure from Remington’s sole .308 AR consumer offering the R25 GII.

With over 200 years of experience in the design and manufacture of firearms, Remington has history of producing some of the finest firearms in the world and the R10 is just another notch in Remington’s belt. The Remington R10 is built on the AR direct impingement rifle platform and chambered in the accurate and heavy hitting 7.62x51mm NATO/.308 Winchester cartridge. Both the upper and lower receivers are hard coat anodized to ensure a durable and non-reflective finish. The carbine length barrel is 16 inches long and has a 1:10” twist perfect for stabilizing heavy 174+ grain bullets, the ideal ammunition for a medium to long range tactical rifle. The muzzle is 5/8×24 tpi threaded, making it compatible with the vast majority of muzzle attachments for .308 Win barrels.

The new standard for lightweight 7.62mm NATO AR performance

Remingtons patent-pending 7.62mm carbine design, re-engineered from the bolt group to the buttstock to deliver 7.62mm knock-down power with the handling characteristics and similar outside dimensions of a 5.56mm AR carbine. The R10’s hammer-forged, sniper-grade barrel features 5R rifling for added precision and an effective range out to 800 meters.  All R10s have fully ambidextrous controls and free floated modular Remington Arms Handguards (RAHG) (coming soon in MLOK®).  As the standard 7.62mm duty carbine of the US Drug Enforcement Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the R10 firearm system is sure to meet your needs as well.

The handguard is Remington’s RAHG design, with a top rail for optics and/or laser, then 7 other mountable surfaces with M-LOK style attachment points. The rifle features ambidextrous controls for the magazine release, bolt-release, and safety selector making this rifle a great option for left-handed shooters. The Remington R10 rifle features Magpul’s MOE SL-S telescoping stock, which has 6 positions for adjusting to the ideal length of pull and has a generous cheek weld. One the most useful features of the SL-S are the two battery compartments built into the stock that are sealed with O-rings to ensure the compartments are waterproof up to 10 meters and at only 2.4 inches wide it’s the narrowest storage stock on the market.

Whether you’re looking to purchase a modern sporting rifle (MSR) for late night hog hunts or are looking to add a designated marksman rifle (DMR) to your station’s armory, the Remington R10 rifle is designed to meet every expectation you have for a semi-automatic medium to long range rifle.

Remington R10 Additional Features

The Remington® R10™ Extended Range Assault Sniper Rifle (ERASR) is an advanced modular carbine designed around the 7.62mm NATO / .308 Win cartridge, with comparable weight, dimensions, and ergonomics to conventional 5.56mm carbines. Built around our revolutionary patent-pending Gen II 308 carbine design, the R10 has the same feel, balance, and similar outside dimensions to its 5.56mm counterparts. Look What I Did Here

Look What I Did Here

Picture of Warne Scope Rail and Bobro Acog Mount

Look What I Did at My Day Job! Don’t Tell My Boss

As part of my day job I design and build machines specific to our process. Sometimes I sneak gun stuff into the design. This here is my  latest machine. It takes a continuous strip of paper and moves back and forth creating a spool of paper. Old versions of the machine use tools and screws to secure the tooling. I decided on my new design I would incorporate some firearm technology in the form of a Warne Tikka rail and a Bobro Engineering Acog mount. This has created a tool-less repeatable tool change. It works so well I’m going to incorporate the design into all the older machines. This will be A LOT of Warne rails and Bobro Acog mounts.

This is my own personal inside joke at work and the best part management loves the “reduced downtime and scrap” and “faster changeover”. Also getting my job to support the industry a couple parts at a time.

I wonder how much time will pass before someone comes through the building and recognizes the hardware. On another machine I borrowed something from a revolver. I’ll save that for another day.

Olympic Arms Company Status Press Releases

Update 3-12-2018

As has been announced on previous occasions, Olympic Arms is working through the process of transitioning into new ownership. This process with a corporation that has  more than 42 years history, industry innovations that have led to dozens of patents and mounds of intellectual property – takes quite some time to sift through and guide into new ownership. With each step, new legal and procedural hurdles are discovered that must be jumped, and the process still continues.

We apologize that this process has taken much longer than anticipated, and we appreciate your kind words of encouragement and patience as we move forward.

In the meantime, Olympic Arms remains open for business to both Dealer and Retail customers. While some product lines have been suspended and other areas of production refocused, we have no intention to cease production and have every intention to continue in operation until the conclusion of this transition. We are confident that there will be an Olympic Arms moving forward. Continue to buy with confidence, and we will continue to be here to provide the quality customer service you have come to know and expect.

Our retail storefront is still open for local walk-in business as well, with hours of operation from 7:30 – 4:00 every weekday unless otherwise noted. Olympic Arms can be reached by phone from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Feel free to contact us via email at info@olyarms.com with any questions or comments.

Press Release 7-28-2017

Thank you all for your years of patronage, and for continuing your interest with Olympic Arms. As time moves forward, we’d like to update our customers and followers with the latest information regarding the changes here at Olympic Arms.

First of all, we’d like to apologize for any confusion that currently may exist. Circumstances since our original announcement made January 2017 have changed, and remain fluid. During this period of change, we’d like to assure you that Olympic Arms remains open and active, and that you may continue to purchase with confidence.

Current market trends are forcing a restructuring of operations and an inevitable downsizing. However, at this time our full intent is to continue uninterrupted operations and pursue a variety of options that allow us to move forward continuing our innovation in the AR15 industry, and the possible expansion into other arenas within the industry. No paths are off-limits to our consideration.

You may have heard or understood that Olympic Arms is in the process of entertaining offers for the sale or restructuring of the company. This too is accurate. Some offers being considered include the complete transfer of ownership of Olympic Arms, while others may include a reorganization and moving forward with the same or similar management. At this time, we are not certain which outcome will prevail, so we continue to move forward with the utmost optimism.

It is probable that whatever solution is found, Olympic Arms will relocate within the next calendar year. This relocation will likely be a local move, but if the company is sold as entire entity, this decision will be made at that time, and every effort will be made to offer continued service to our entire customer base.

Thank you again for all your kind words, emails and phone calls of support during this challenging time. We will do our best to keep you posted as things progress.

Magpul PMAG D-50

PMAG® D-50™ LR/SR GEN M3™

Magpul PMAG D-50 Product Details

The Magpul PMAG D-50 is a rugged, lightweight 50-round polymer drum magazine designed for 7.62×51 NATO/.308 Winchester ammunition for SR25/M110 pattern rifles. It’s capable of using longer-than-SAAMI-spec match ammunition, up to 2.830” OAL, such as M118LR. Engineered to the same exacting standards as the famous Magpul PMAG and PMAG D-60® drum magazines, the D-50 continues the PMAG tradition of high-capacity performance and dependability.

Durable and Reliable

The Magpul PMAG D-50 incorporates proven GEN M3 technology, which includes next-generation impact and crush-resistant polymer construction and the ability to seat fully loaded on a closed bolt. Robust stainless-steel internals withstand corrosion and long-term storage while loaded with no loss of function, spring fatigue, or reliability concerns. A slip-on semi-rigid dust cover prevents grit and debris intrusion during storage and transport.

Easy to Use

A ratcheting loading lever removes spring tension, making the D-50 easily loadable by hand. An anti-glare translucent window on the rear of the drum makes for quick positive visual indication of remaining ammunition. Additionally, the D-50 can be disassembled quickly with a simple flat blade screwdriver or similar tool and it comes with a dot matrix pattern that allows for easy marking and identification

Lightweight, Compact and Affordable

At approximately 1.7 lbs empty, and 4.5 lbs loaded, the Magpul D-50 is one of the lightest 50-round 7.62×51/.308 drums available, and it’s priced well below the current competition. The D-50’s unique drum configuration gives it roughly the same overall height profile as a standard 25-round PMAG, making storage easy and shooting from various positions–including prone–no different than with smaller capacity magazines.

Magpul PMAG D-50 Specifications

*Optimized for use only with 7.62×51 NATO/.308 Winchester cartridges.  Use with other calibers such as .260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmoor is not recommended.

Poll-What Are Your Firearm Plans 2019

Tell Us What Your Thinking!

This April will mark nine years of this websites existence. In that time I do not believe we have ever had a user interactive poll. The poll is a serious question of what 2019 is starting to look like from a political and economic standpoint. The poll also represents the personality of those who are both staff and members of this site and the 308 AR forum. Love us or hate us we are definitely the most colorful shooting forum on the web.

If you wouldn’t mind please answer up to 5 questions below. This helps us to better understand what is important to you so we can keep our content fresh and relevant. Also please feel free to add your own answers. Naturally humorous answers are welcome but please try to answer a few questions seriously. If you choose not to answer you risk Shepp and Robocop going all Jay and Silent Bob on your butts, and trust me you don’t want those hairy mugs knocking on your door.

Gas Block Genie Gas Block Alignment Tool

Gas Block Genie Gas Block Alignment Tool

Picture of a Gas Block Genie AR Gas Block Alignment Installation Tool

Gas Block Genie Gas Block Alignment Tool

Just spotted this on Brownells. Interesting, inexpensive and reusable tool for proper gas block alignment. Currently only available for .750 barrels but other sizes are coming.

Ever put together an AR build, only to find that your semi-auto cycling system just doesn’t cycle? Looks like that gas-block installation didn’t go as well as you thought it did. Avoid future frustration by adding the Two Two Three Innovations Gas Block Genie to your AR building kit.

Unlike other gas-block alignment tools on the market, the Two Two Three Innovations AR Gas Block Genie Gas Block Alignment Tool can be used again and again, as many times as you want, during your AR build. All it takes is three simple steps.

The type of gas block doesn’t even matter when using the Gas Block Genie. Whether you’re working with clamp-on designs, rail-block designs or micro-size options, the Gas Block Genie can handle it all!

Gas Block Genie Gas Block Alignment Tool Instructional Video

Gas Block Genie Gas Block Alignment Tool Instructions

The Gas Block Genie quickly and easily allows you to perfectly align the AR-15 or AR-10 gas block hole with the gas port in your barrel every time.

  1.    Squeeze the Genie slightly to install into the forward face of the gas block so that the hole in the Genie is centered on the gas block hole. It may be easier to remove the rearmost set screw to do this. Part of the Genie should be sticking out the front side of the gas block
  2.    Use a very fine point marker or scribe to make a mark on the Genie where the forward edge of the gas block is. Make a small mark on the gas block at the slot in the Genie to indicate the top center of the gas block. It may be helpful to use a black marker on a stainless surface and a silver marker on a black surface.
  3.    Remove the Genie from the gas block and snap onto the barrel so that the hole in the Genie is centered around the gas port in the barrel.
  4.    Transfer the mark you made in step 2 to the barrel through the slot in the Genie.
  5.    Remove the Genie and slide the gas block onto the barrel.  As the Gas block approaches the barrel’s gas port you will see the line on the barrel and the mark on the front face of the gas block.  Simply align the two and you are finished!  A perfectly aligned gas block!
